Experience the AVI® Heart-Mind Retreat

What is the AVI Heart-Mind Retreat?

The Heart-Mind Retreat offers yoga practitioners of any ability the opportunity to experience the ancient integrated practices of yoga in a relaxed retreat setting.  Discover how āsanaprāṇāyāma, meditation, prayer, ritual, chanting, and mantra can be interwoven into a simple yet powerful practice for true transformation.

Who attends the AVI Heart-Mind Retreat?

Participants come to the Heart-Mind Retreat from all over the world.  Many attendees are American Viniyoga Institute (AVI) graduates but they often bring their spouses, friends, or students.  Many have never experienced Gary Kraftsow‘s teaching and come to explore the traditional lineage of yoga called Viniyoga.

What can I learn?

Whether you are just taking your first steps on the path of yoga or are an experienced yoga teacher or practitioner, please join us for this special time of personal integration and transformation using the inner practices of yoga.

➻ Help unlock and tap your innate power
➻ Strengthen your will and determination, and
➻ Ultimately realize and actualize your highest potential.

We will draw upon the teachings of yoga and tantra using the cakra model as a path through the suṣumnā as a navigational system.  Our practices may include the use of āsana, prāṇāyāma, and mantra, as well as the meditation methods of mudrā/nyāsa, saṅkalpa, yantra, manasa pūjā and svādhyāya.  For 40 years, Gary Kraftsow has been making these ancient practices relevant and accessible in the modern world.

Śarīra Traya (Triple Body Theory) &
Darśanam (Conceptual Frameworks):
Renewing Inner Practice

December 4 – 8, 2019

We perceive the world through conceptual frameworks which function as a kind of lens through which we filter our life experience. Surfacing and examining these frameworks can free us from their limitations. From that expanded awareness, the Ancients’ philosophical models and symbol systems can awaken in us, and become doorways to enter the deeper dimensions of Inner Practice, ushering us into that Living Presence which reveals the Oneness that transcends all models. In this event, we will explore the Triple Body Theory or, Śarīra Traya, as transmitted through the Vedic tradition, as well as some of the more traditional conceptual frameworks or, Darśanam, that evolved in Vedic philosophy (including Dualism and Nondualism) in order to understand their views and examine our own conceptual frameworks through that lens.
