Ṣadaraṁ Saṁsāra Cakra Bhedanam
Breaking free from the wheel of cyclic existence:
Birth – Death – Rebirth

December 3 – 7, 2025
Ancient Yoga Center, Austin, TX
All of us have the recurring experience of frustration and suffering from different causes and at different levels of intensity throughout our daily lives.
In response to this recurring experience, we seek to release suffering and find fulfillment outwardly in what the Ancients called the “world of name and form.”
As a result, we are locked in a recurring cycle of action and consequence.
The Ancients explained this pattern using the metaphor of a four-linked chain. Once we can see clearly how these four links are playing out in our daily lives, their power to bind us is weakened.
The four links are cause, effect, substratum, and objective support.
- Cause refers to specific actions at the level of body, speech, and mind that are: selfless or self-serving.
- Effect refers to experiences we have as a result of our actions which can cause: happiness or suffering.
- Substratum refers to the underlying patterns that are at the root of our actions: attachment or aversion.
The three pairs together form what the Ancients called Ṣadaraṁ Saṁsāra Cakram — the six-spoked wheel of birth and rebirth, or the six-spoked wheel of action and consequence.
The fourth link of the chain that binds us to this ongoing cycle is objective support and refers to the people or objects that trigger the cycle and keep it in perpetual motion.
Exposing our saṁskāra-s to the light of our Conscious Awareness is the essential step on the path to freedom from this self-perpetuating cycle.
The Ancients evolved the Cakra/Nāḍī symbol system as a comprehensive map of the human psyche. In this retreat, we will follow the map, using meditative self-inquiry on each cakra, to break free from these patterns and actualize our higher potentials.
